![]() ![]() Terrarivania: - A map allegedly based on the Castlevania series, though I didn't see any real relationship between the two besides the general style of the level design. Suited for both single and multiplayer, Elytra Fall, is a combination of both CTM or Complete the Monument and elytra flying map wherein the player must find and collect wool blocks to build and complete the monument. It's also fairly easy, so it's a good one for beginners. I've never played a Silent Hill game in my life, but I still played and liked this one, so even if you aren't familiar with the SH series it's still worth a try. Silent Hill 2: - It's basically the story of Silent Hill 2 told in the form of an adventure map. It's also pretty long, so be prepared to spend upwards of ~30 hours completing it. Starraria: - A more recent adventure map that combines Terraria's gameplay with a Starbound-like setting. I actually haven't played the most recent version of it, but I've played the older versions and it's very good. It has an original story and awesome level design bordering on genius, so you should definitely check it out.Ī Link to Terraria: - The other quintessential adventure map, based on the Legend of Zelda series. Revenge!: - One of the quintessential adventure maps for anyone looking to get into Terraria adventure maps. Here are a few of my favorites that I've played: I've even started working on a few myself, though I haven't finished any of them yet. The player invited him into the server and, after seeing just how much fun it was to share with others, he leapt at the opportunity when that same player invited him into a group that shared a passion for CTM maps.Adventure maps are something of a hobby for me. A player let him know that he was streaming the first Untold Stories map. Often discovering a strong map-making community is what inspires Minecraft builders to start work on their own creations – but for renderXR it was the opposite. Adventures in Fahrlend is a high fantasy action-adventure game for Minecraft version 1.17.1. You spawn in an interactive open world that is similar to the world of Zelda and have to make your way around it while finishing a variety of quests. He specifically made this one to welcome newcomers to the CTM genre with a more linear design, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be a cakewalk. As the name reveals, this Minecraft adventure map combines the plot of the Legend of Zelda game series with the infamous myth of Herobrine. “Subsequently it gave me the idea to make the map's area themes go from cold temperatures to warmer temperatures.”Īs tough as Corona Trials can be, renderXR actually toned down the difficulty a bit after receiving requests to ease up after Untold Stories 3: Myriad Caves. I wanted to limit fire for the most part, but when I was done with forests I allowed the usage of fire,” he explained. “The theming of the map came from players burning down forested areas in my previous maps. The inspiration for the temperature aspect of Corona Trials, though, came from the actions of players that wrecked his previous creations. He was inspired by Infernal Sky and a couple other CTM maps, specifically Three_Two's Vinyl Fantasy Series and Vechs' Super Hostile Series, the latter of which he credits as the creator of the CTM genre. “The hotter the map becomes the crazier the areas get,” renderXR says. Players start in Winterbound and the following areas are progressively warmer. Tools and plugins like Voxel Sniper, World Edit, MCedit, and World Painter were used to shape the Corona Trials, where a fluctuating temperature is your main adversary as you collect your objectives. The two weren’t perfect but renderXR took the mixed feedback he received, spent a little extra time to shape his ideas, and released Untold Stories: Myriad Caves a few months later. The second, Untold Story: Bigleaf Forest, came only a month later in January. He followed those experiments up in December 2014 with Untold Stories: Goliath and actually published this one for others to experience.
